Purpose of the Society
The purpose of the Society is to improve research, education and medical treatment of colorectal medicine by its member physicians, and thus contribute to the health and welfare of the nation.
History of the Society
March 21, 1940 | The Japanese Society of Anoproctology was founded to promote the progress and development of colorectal and anal medicine. |
September 25, 1966 | Changed its name to The Japan Society of Coloproctology. |
1974 | With the change of the Society’s constitution, a chairman in charge of administration of the Society was appointed in addition to the president. |
1981 | Director election system adopted. |
June 1987 | Became a member of the Japanese Association of Medical Sciences. |
1989 | Board Certification System established. |
December 26, 2006 | The Japan Society of Coloproctology acquired juridical personality as a limited liability intermediate corporation. |
August 2, 2007 | Medical advertising as “Board certified coloproctologist” became possible. |
November 5, 2009 | The Japan Society of Coloproctology incorporated as a general incorporated association. |
Business Activities
Holding meetings for presentations and academic lectures by members, educational seminars, etc.
Publishing journals, books, etc. (10 Japanese-language journals and 4 English-language journals published annually)
Certifying medical specialists/mentors and providing accreditation for accredited facilities
Other activities necessary to achieve the objectives of the corporation
